Mr. Akif Ali Khamis is the Director General of Zanzibar Ports Corporation (ZPC), overseeing its transformation and modernization efforts. At 32 years old, he is the youngest Director General in Tanzania, symbolizing youth, innovation, and progress. 

Academic Background: 

Mr. Khamis holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering and a Master's degree in Petroleum, Energy, Economics, and Finance, reflecting his diverse educational foundation. 

Career Background: 

In the private sector, he served as an Operational Manager for a leading prefabricated housing company and held managerial roles in international procurement. He also contributed significantly as an Assistant Town Manager for Zanzibar's pioneering real estate development project. 

Transitioning to the public sector, Mr. Khamis began his career as a Junior Engineer in the Department of Energy Zanzibar, showcasing his dedication to public service. He later served as the Head of ICT at ZURA (Zanzibar Utilities Regulatory Authority) before rising to the position of Deputy Director General and subsequently, Director General at ZPC. 

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Khamis has been a catalyst for the advancement of Zanzibar's maritime and port sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainable development. His leadership underscores a commitment to fostering economic growth and infrastructure enhancement in Zanzibar.
