Dr Tryson Yangailo is an economist and researcher with a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and delivering impactful results in both the public and private sectors. With over 12 years of experience in strategic planning, research and project management, he is currently the Senior Corporate Planning and Research Manager at the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), where he leads efforts to optimise operations, improve transport logistics and align business strategies with growth objectives.

Earlier in his career, Tryson held key positions in the Ministry of Local Government in Zambia, progressing from Socio-Economic Planner to Chief Housing Officer. During this time, he successfully managed and facilitated the implementation of several development projects, including the Transforming Rural Livelihoods in Western Province of Zambia (funded by the African Development Bank) and the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (funded by the World Bank). These projects focused on improving rural livelihoods and strengthening climate resilience, underlining his commitment to socio-economic sustainability and development in vulnerable regions.

His academic credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Business and Management, two Master's degrees (one in General Business and another in Production & Operations Management) and a Bachelor's degree in Economics with distinction. This strong educational foundation provides him with a deep understanding of economic principles, business management and strategic thinking.

Throughout his career, Tryson has demonstrated his versatility by holding leadership positions in a variety of industries. In addition to his government roles, he has been instrumental in neighbourhood development planning, focusing on sustainable housing and community development programmes.

As an active researcher, Tryson has made a significant contribution to the fields of economics and management through his publications in international peer-reviewed journals. His ability to translate complex economic concepts into actionable strategies has made him a valuable asset to the organisations he has worked with.
