BIOGRAPHY

Mr Kruger, a career banker, has been working for Barclays Africa and the banking industry for a period of 30+ years. He has significant international banking experience the last number of years focussing on public sector banking including managing the bank’s public sector credit portfolio.

He specialised in infrastructure finance and public private partnerships and is a passionate proponent of increased private sector participation in the delivery of water and sanitation services enhancing the required service delivery.

Mr Kruger has joined the Nepad Business Foundation as program manager of the new (AVID) during November 2015. The intention of this desk, in essence, to support the development of infrastructure and services on the African continent through collaboration with the international finance community. Mr Kruger is currently;

  • Setting up the Pan African Water Finance Leadership Forum in collaboration with WaterAid and WSUP. This Forum is targeting the CFO’s of the top 100 cities in Africa and has as its aim the empowerment of the CFOs such that they can take action to support, their utility management teams to modernise the water industry on the African continent.
  • Actively marketing the APMG Certified Professional PPP Program across the African continent. The NBF and Mr Kruger has been accredited to deliver the World Bank designed internationally accredited Program.

Mr Kruger has an extensive view of water and sanitation projects across Africa and across the various specialist areas covering water resources, bulk distribution, reticulation – across public and private utilities, public and private operators and the significant technology changes taking place.
