Cape Town, 24th October 2018 – The 10th Africa Public Private Partnership Conference and Showcase, Africa PPP, has once again for its first day of conference gathered high-level delegates from the PPP sector at the Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel in South Africa.
Following the pre-conference training addressed by Norma Sephuma, PPP Consultant, Sheila Galloway, Group Chief Executive Officer, Utho Capital, Kantha Rattay, Legal Consultant, KR Consulting and Mari Bruwer, Founder, MCA Consulting on 23rd October 2018, all 37 participants have received their CPD certificates. The training focused on “Project Preparation Skills Development for Bankable PPPs”.
Over 120 attendees during the first day of AfricaPPP conference have discussed and met to Develop Africa’s Infrastructure by enabling investment in energy, transport and water partnerships, through panel discussions and networking. The event’s opening remarks have been made by the Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille and some of the sponsors, the Executive Director of Almar Water Solutions, Felipe Guinea and Principal: Infrastructure, Private Sector and TMT Finance of Nedbank, Shaheed Alli.
The event is also sponsored by Allen & Overy, Kukuza Project Development Company, with the support of NEPAD.
Throughout the first day of conference, 34 expert speakers, from both private and public sector, have shared their expertise, presented successful PPP projects, future PPP project opportunities and debated the current and future state of Public-Private Partnerships in the African Continent. The importance of energy partnerships through PPPs for regional development have been highlighted. The attendees have been given the key to lay the foundation for successful transport partnerships. A specific focus has been made on the East African landscape and the Southern African PPPs. The discussions have also led to the strategies and returns of asset allocation and infrastructure investment funds.

The second day of AfricaPPP will include new speakers and discussions on the transport, energy and water partnerships in other African regions, while focusing on the importance of using technology to advance PPPs.
